Sound familiar?
The conversation that matters always shows up unannounced
The taxi driver tells you something about the route and you just smile. At the market you end up paying whatever they ask, because haggling in gestures is exhausting.
Your mother-in-law has spoken to you in her language for years, and it all stays stuck in smiles and half-translations. There's a whole relationship waiting right there.
That call with the overseas supplier: you caught 70%, said yes to everything, and now you're just praying the order arrives right.
You put on a talk, a service, a conference, and half the room checks out because they can't understand the speaker. Interpretation booths cost more than the event itself.
Every one of those scenes is playing out this week, somewhere in your life. And the usual way out ("we sort of understood each other") costs you deals that never close, families that only half-connect, and audiences that never come back. Language shouldn't decide which conversations happen.
The language barrier doesn't fall after three years of classes. It falls the moment you start talking, today.
The solution
A mode for every moment in your life
Kai isn't a dictionary with a microphone: it's a fluid, back-and-forth conversation in a natural voice. Three modes, three real situations:
Solo: to understand
Pick the language you want to hear in and you're set: your phone picks up what's being said (in any language, with nothing to configure) and plays it back to your ear, translated, almost instantly. For the trip, the video, the talk you walked into without an interpreter.
Conversation: to talk
You open a room and the other person just scans your QR with their camera, no account, no app, nothing to search for. Each of you speaks your own language on your own phone and hears the other in theirs. A real conversation, not a phone passed back and forth.
Conference: for events The thing you didn't know existed
You project a QR on the room's screen. Each attendee scans it, picks their language, and hears the speaker translated through their own earbuds, with live captions, no account and nothing to install. And here's what no one else offers: we don't charge per attendee: you pay per active language and by the scale of your event. Within your tier, more listeners never raise the price: half-full or packed, it costs exactly the same.

This is what you will be using
Three real screens from the tool, taken as they are, untouched.
The screens are in English; the tool works in your language.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install an app?
No. Kai Live Translate runs entirely in your phone's or computer's browser: you go to livetranslate.kaistrategylab.com, create your account, and you're already translating. Nothing to download or update.
Does the other person need an account or have to install anything?
No. In Conversation and Conference the other person just scans your QR code with their camera: they're in right away, pick their language, and that's it, no account, no app, and no page to search for.
How fast is the translation? Is it really live?
The translation arrives about a second behind and with no turns: while you keep talking, the other person is already hearing the translation in a natural voice. It's a fluid conversation, not a walkie-talkie.
Which languages does it support?
It automatically detects more than 70 languages as it listens (no one configures anything) and translates with voice into 13 languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Russian, and Vietnamese.
How much does it cost? Are there hidden fees?
You start free with 1,667 KaiCoins (≈ 10 minutes of translation), no card. After that you buy KaiCoins only when you need them: packs from US$4.99 for 2,000 KaiCoins. Solo uses 170 KaiCoins per minute and Conversation 335. There's no mandatory subscription and no automatic charges.
Do KaiCoins expire?
Purchased KaiCoins don't expire while your account is active. Only the 1,667 welcome KaiCoins expire after 14 days if the account never tops up: they're for trying it out, not for stockpiling.
How do I pay?
By card and local payment methods from your country, in a secure checkout run by dLocal (prices are in US dollars). Crediting is automatic: you pay and your KaiCoins show up in your account within seconds.
What about my privacy? Do you keep my conversations?
We don't store the audio or the text of your conversations. We only log usage metadata (date, mode, languages, and duration) so you can see your own usage history.
I'm organizing an event with 100 people: will it cost a fortune?
No: we bill per active language and by the event's scale, never per attendee. An event with up to 100 listeners is the Auditorium tier; with an audience in two languages you'd use 2 Auditorium passes (US$59 each) per 70-minute block. And whether half the room or the whole room shows up, the price doesn't change. The calculator on the plans page tells you exactly what yours will cost.
Can the audience lock their phone during a conference?
Yes. A listener can lock the screen or switch apps and the audio keeps playing, like a radio. Whoever is broadcasting (the organizer) does need to keep their device with the screen on, like the event's console.
Who is Kai NOT for?
It's not a replacement for a professional interpreter in legal, critical medical, or high-precision diplomatic settings, it doesn't translate written documents, and it needs an internet connection to work. Its home turf is real everyday conversation: travel, family, business, and events.
Who's behind this?
Kai Strategy Lab, the digital product studio of Mauricio Zúñiga. If you have questions or something isn't working, write to livetranslate@kaistrategylab.com: a real person answers, not a bot.
How is this different from the free translation app on my phone?
No taking turns and no single shared phone. Most free apps translate turn by turn on one phone: one person speaks, the app translates, then the other person speaks. With Kai, each person uses their own phone, both talk naturally and each hears the other in their own language almost instantly. And at an event, a single QR code serves the whole audience, each person in their own language.
What if it translates something wrong? Can I test it before my event?
Yes, and you should. The translation is done live by artificial intelligence: it usually works well in normal conversation, but it can get proper names, acronyms, technical jargon or very noisy rooms wrong. With your welcome KaiCoins you can try Solo and Conversation, and every new account also gets a 3-minute Conference trial. Before an event, run a short rehearsal with the real microphone and the real venue.
Can I use it every day to serve customers at my business?
Yes, for everyday customer service: a hotel front desk, a shop, a guided tour. You use Conversation: you open a room, the customer scans your QR code without installing anything, and each of you speaks your own language. You pay per minute with KaiCoins, with no monthly fee. One limit worth knowing today: each account belongs to one person, and the balance can't be shared among staff. For a medical or legal consultation, a professional interpreter is still the right choice.
There are conversations waiting for you on the other side of a language
Your family's. Your client's. Your audience's. They don't need three years of classes: they need someone to start talking.
